Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://docs.seegov.org/start-here.md). # Start Here Backstage gives you the source material and tools to cover local government without starting from a three-hour video and a blank page. ## What you can do ### Find News SeeGov collects public meeting videos and turns them into a workspace with: * agenda items and moment-by-moment notes; * detected votes and other signals; * a searchable transcript linked to the video; and * the original video title and available source links so you can verify the meeting. Use these tools to spot a story, find a quote, understand a decision, or review a meeting you could not attend. ### Create Video Highlights When you find something your community should see, you do not need to leave the meeting. Add one or more moments, refine the clips, provide context, and choose either a Highlight Reel or Social Video. Nothing has to go public. You can generate and review your work first with automatic publishing and posting turned off. ## One Backstage journey You may see the words **Insider** or **Creator** in an account screen. They are internal account labels, not separate applications you need to navigate. Everyone with Backstage access can begin Find News work and move directly into creating. During your first video, SeeGov asks you to finish a public-facing creator profile and acknowledge the Creator Guidelines, then returns you to the video workflow.
